About

Imelda’s fabric & Designs sits high abouve the Sandy River at the junction of route 2 and 134 in New Sharon, ME.,and has a long history as home to industrious and diverse Maine family businesses. Built between 1867 and 1870, it was the home of the Woolen Coat Factory. years later it became Whitings Creamery, and in 1935 sold to C.A. Thompson who operated a tennis racquet factory. The building sat idle for a numbers of years then Chandra Devi purchased it, renovated it and her fabric business grew here. I purchased it in 2004 and expanded the line of fabric and added another floor to make the shop one of the largest selection of products around. I love good fabric and the shop shows it.
